the spirit of vincent van gogh in nuenen
You can’t say Nuenen, without saying Vincent van Gogh. Van Gogh lived in this village in Brabant for two years and painted his first masterpiece here. Hoping for a glimpse of Vincent’s world, people from all over the globe come to Nuenen. In order to better serve this group, the Van Gogh Village Nuenen Foundation commissioned Tinker to design a new visitor centre.
In the former city hall, visitors step into the artist’s universe and follow in his footsteps. They get acquainted with his family, colleagues, friends, and lovers. They follow him in his tracks and arrive at Nuenen. Here they can explore the landscape and get to know the people of Nuenen. Finally, they meet Vincent himself in his studio and get to share his longings and his fears. As a grand finale they peer over Vincent’s shoulder and watch him paint the famous Potato Eaters.
