Always looking to create magical experiences with the elegant combination of design and relevant technology into educational experiences that stay with you.

Since the field of imagineering uses primarily cinematic and theatrical means, my experience with film and design brings a new perspective to the design projects. I am deeply interested in all aspects of spatial experiences and film, and so I have a lot of experience with design, technology (AV, mechanical, electronical, coding), light and music/sound. I have a passion for the clear communication of complex ideas (both during the process and in the end product). In addition, I am interested in experimenting with the ultimate atmosphere in the early stages of the process, using concept-art and rough atmospheric soundscapes.

Outside Tinker hours, I work in my studio on autonomous work: trying my hand at technical poetical installations, new film projects, composing experimental – yet ‘listenable’ – music à la Brian Eno, Sigur Rós, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Portico Quartet.

history

1988

Born in the countryside near Nispen (Province of Brabant), close to the Belgian border

1996

Started on 12 years of piano lessons, ended up learning how to improvise and compose

1998

As a lover of the Efteling theme park, I started building attractions of my own design in the garden: slides, haunted houses and a functioning roller coaster

2001

My dreams no longer fitted in the backyard, so I began to experiment with animation, computer graphics and music

2005 - 2009

Studied Industrial Product Design in The Hague, specialising in creative technical design. Did internships with Bearandbunny, Feiz Design, and Platvorm

2009

Junior spatial designer with exhibition design agency Platvorm (Amsterdam). Product design as such was never quite enough, and so I was lucky to have a chance to do multi-disciplinary design for the Children’s Book Museum in The Hague.

2010 - 2012

Master of Arts in 'Narrative Environments' from Central Saint Martin’s Academy of Arts in London. Had a great, inspiring time filled with fascinating projects and lectures. 2013 Worked on films for LGI and Liander as a ‘young talent director’ through LADA (part of former Caviar Amsterdam)

2014

Worked independently on commercials, experiences and projects for Into the Great Wide Open, Museum Catharijneconvent, AGU, Trek, and others

2016

Found Tinker! Pottering on, messing about on a larger scale. With big budgets and talented teams. With my background in design, technology, film, and music, I reinforce the connection between design and media with innovative ideas
