29-11-2017

London, 29th November, At the FX International Interior Design Awards ceremony the exhibition design of Tinker imagineers for the Danish museum TIRPITZ was announced winner in the category Museum or Exhibition Space beating 8 other finalists. It’s the second international recognition for the design firm this month after receiving gold at the IDCA Awards in Los Angeles. The prestigious FX Awards honour world-class design excellence.

The judges said:

'Weaving an intriguing set of experiences into the raw concrete spaces that reference their military history without becoming overly oppressive makes for a design that we can see children thoroughly enjoying. The strength of Tinker’s design and concept is more than a match for the power of its architectural and landscape setting'.

Exhibition design
TIRPITZ transforms and expands a Second World War bunker into a museum complex on the west coast of Denmark, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (architecture) and Tinker imagineers (exhibition design). A central courtyard leads to underground galleries and then into the historic bunker, which grounds the tale of an impressive war machine.

One of the galleries transforms into a 4D theatre every hour and takes visitors on a journey trough time and space. The museum incorporates personal stories, changing colors, sounds and temperatures to create playful exhibitions and a world-class attraction that serves as a gateway to the remarkable landscape of the region.

FX Awards
The FX Awards invite both UK and International designers from all over the world to enter the very best of interior products and projects. Organised by FX magazine these coveted awards, and the grand, glamorous black-tie ceremony which celebrates them at the Grosvenor Hotel in London, are the highlights of the design industry calendar.
