refugee museum awarded at german design awards
FLUGT Refugee Museum of Denmark has been awarded with a Special Mention at the German Design Awards 2023. These awards are one of the most prestigious in the international design industry. Besides the German Design Awards, FLUGT has been awarded several times. It became a finalist during the competition at the FX Awards 2022 and got an Honouree Award at the Interior Design Best of Year Awards 2022. Tinker developed the interior design and the audio walk for the new museum, designed by architect BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group.
FLUGT is a new museum which uses subtle touches of AV and powerful stories to give voice to refugees in a site of historical importance. Located at the site of Denmark’s largest refugee camp from World War II, the exhibitions tell stories of hardship and hope. Tinker worked together with Kloosterboer (set construction), Story Matters (copy writing audio stories), Stouenborg (hardware & showcontrol), Shosho (AV content first two rooms), YIPP (interactive table), Rina van der Weij (art installation wireframe figures), 50Lux (light design), Big Orange (audio design) and Tonwelt (audio device).
