02-05-2024
The sustainable architectural design for Museumpark Vonk is ready! Studio Marco Vermeulen designed the building using biobased materials, making it appear as if it rises naturally from the ground. This new museum, which will be built on the site of the preHistorisch Dorp, will take visitors on a journey through time, exploring the story and strength of the Eindhoven region.
Museumpark Vonk will be the first museum building in the Netherlands to extensively use biobased materials and sustainable techniques on a large scale and in various ways. Museum director Ward Rennen proudly explains: “People historically used materials from their immediate surroundings to build their homes. With biobased, we are partly returning to that tradition. The materials also create a natural connection with the existing historical buildings of the preHistorisch Dorp.”
What exactly is going to happen? preHistorisch Dorp and Eindhoven Museum are merging under a new name: Museumpark Vonk. In collaboration with the museum team, Tinker is designing the experience, which will largely be outdoors. The museum park will portray the innovative pioneering spirit and inventiveness of the Brainport Eindhoven region interactively. It will be a place where visitors can understand why this area has become a world-class hub of top technology and knowledge.
